File Type Extraordinary Circumstances
Billing Providers encountering situations which delay the ability to submit claims on a timely basis may enter an Extraordinary Circumstance (EC) in the EI-Hub's Billing Module. The EC represents the reason that claims could not be submitted within the Bureau’s timely filing guidelines. ECs are entered once for the entire date range the billing provider was affected and must be entered before submitted any claims for the affected time period. File Type Entering Commercial Insurance in the EI-Hub
An In The Loop article titled “Entering Commercial Insurance in the EI-Hub” released on 03/20/2025 provides guidance on entering commercial insurance. The article notes that commercial insurance companies often have multiple billing addresses for claims. However, with Covered Lives legislation, only the insurance company's name is required in the EI-Hub. Follow the link for more information.

File Type Impact of Child’s Demographic Information on Claim Processing
During claiming, data from the Case Management module transfers to the Billing module to verify claim accuracy. This transfer requires key data, including the child’s address. If the address is missing, claims though accepted will not appear in the Invoice Batch Statuses Report until the information is available. This article explains how to use the Child Lookup feature to confirm if the child is in the Billing module.

File Type Coming soon, the Health Commerce System (HCS) will be implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Coming Soon! All EI-Hub users will be required to use MFA to access the application in the HCS. Users will not be able to access the EI-Hub without setting up MFA in the HCS application. While the requirement for MFA has not yet been implemented, users are encouraged to set up MFA as soon as possible to ensure continuity of access. Note, if you have previously set up MFA for other HCS applications, you will not be required to complete the set-up process again. Follow the link for more information.
